About Me
Casey Smith
Visual artist
I am a visual artist and musician. After 24 years, I retired from my position as a visual arts instructor. Although my professional focus was divided between art education and music, I created many works during those years, including murals, portraiture, contemporary pieces, book illustrations, and artwork for album covers. I also have experience in theater production, specifically in set design and costumes. Now, I am fully committed to developing a cohesive body of work. I primarily work in oil and have a contemporary, realistic style that is an experiment in liberating beauty and wonder from a chaotic environment, and the ideas and emotions that lie behind it. Very rarely do I begin on an unworked canvas. Instead, anti-form techniques are applied for a sense of whimsical chaos, where neither abstract expressionism nor process art is the singular goal.
